![]() I share your pain DeanoD, but know this.this will be my first and last Acer product! I am really disappointed that the 4th largest PC maker in the world would put out a very promising competitive tablet only to be negligible of its own support for the Android technology. But Acer, and Rogers are apparently still in the dark. Are we asking too much for the upgrade that was promised when we bought these tablets? I know how many Acer products this has made me want to buy. Someone even posted a screen shot of their settings on an a501 WITH the upgraded Android system in place. I have seen several reports of people getting the update in Australia and Canada as well. It seems that neither Acer nor their employees have a CLUE about what is going on. I JUST got a "canned" response from Acer on this as well. Note: In case the device is not updated and goes back to the boot loop mode then you need to clear the cache from the recovery mode and then try the process once again.Same here with my a501 tablet. Jelly Bean is now installed and running on your Iconia A500. Once the update is applied, choose ++++Go Back++++ option and then select Reboot System Now to reboot the device. Now, choose the Jelly Bean package that you have copied in the device Select Install Zip from SD Card > Choose Zip from SD Card.Clear the Dalvik Cache in the recovery mode to ensure all the cache files are deleted Select Wipe Data/Factory Reset > Wipe Cache Partition.Choose Nandroid backup option in recovery mode.Disconnect the device and switch it off so that it can entered in Recovery mode (you can do so, by pressing and holding Volume Down and Power buttons until you see the Recovery mode screen).Connect the device to PC via USB cable and copy the downloaded zip file to the device.Download the Jelly Bean update package to the PC.To install Jelly Bean firmware on Acer Iconia A500: Ensure the device is rooted and has Acer Recovery application installed.Ensure USB drivers are installed on the PC.Ensure the device has at least 50 percent battery charge.IBTimes UK will not be held responsible for any sort of damage to the device during installation. Those who want to upgrade their device can check this tutorial. As of now, there is no exact date as to when the official firmware would be rolled out for the Iconia A500. The Acer Iconia A500 can now be upgraded to Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) with the help of an SDK port version. ![]()
